Brother Lamar sent me a message today saying he's still looking for my poems on Facebook. Guess I got behind! I hope this will be a blessing.
Broken Pieces
Lord, can you hear me?
I've come to You in prayer.
You see Lord, I have failed You
and I thought that you might care.
God, I've really done it.
I've made a mess of it all.
I thought I had it covered,
but then I took that fall.
Where once I was Your vessel
there are pieces broken and sharp.
Lord, my sin has hurt me
right to the depths of my heart.
So now I guess You're finished.
I suppose with me You are done.
I had my sin for a season,
and the pleasure I thought was fun.
Now I'm reaping what I've sown.
It's time to pay the price.
I never knew that with my sin
I would make such sacrifice.
Oh Lord, I feel so useless
and empty down within.
I know You can not use me now
so I guess I'll say, "amen."
But then words came from Heaven
precious and so clear,
from the Holy Spirit who said
"Child, I am right here."
"Yes I know you've failed Me,
and yes, it's true you've sinned;
but don't you know I can clean you up
and make you whole again?
There is no sin you could commit
that my blood can not make clean.
I loved you when I died for you
and this doesn't change a thing.
You see, to Me you are precious;
I purchased you with My life.
And I'll love you if you're good or bad.
I'll love you if you're wrong or right.
Sins that seem so hopeless,
well those are My specialty.
When you find you've fallen,
just come back to Me.
I'll never leave or forsake you
and for your life I have a plan.
Just stay close to Me and serve Me
for I'm holding to your hand.
